Launch of Horizon, an innovative intervention program for youth based on nature and adventure.
December 5, 2022
I’m thrilled to be able to tell you today that thanks to the support of hundreds of generous donors like you, $1 million will be allocated to Horizon over the next five years. This will make it possible to deploy a program that—until now—had been a pilot project in the Montérégie.
Thanks to you, more young people in the Montérégie will develop the tools they need to overcome life’s obstacles and look to the future with confidence!
At the Foundation, we promised to always be on the forefront of health issues and support collaboration and innovation. Horizon is a perfect example of this.
Our thanks to Lionel Carmant, Minister Responsible for Social Services, for the government’s invaluable support for this project.
And our thanks to Richard Deschamps, President and CEO of the CISSS Montérégie-Centre, for dreaming big and embracing bold projects for his CISSS and for the health of his community.
Thank you and congratulations to the entire team on the ground for their creativity leading to this innovative project. Your work with young people is extraordinary.
I personally had the opportunity to hear the testimonial of a father whose 16-year-old daughter, Aimy, participated in the program, to great success. As a father of three, I can tell you that these kinds of testimonials really strike a chord. The terrible powerlessness parents feel in the face of their child’s distress… Thankfully, Aimy’s story had a happy ending.
Thank YOU for helping to build a healthy generation by supporting the mental health of our youth. You were the spark that made it possible to bring this program into the fold of the CISSS’s service offer. Young people suffering from mental health problems and their families can THANK YOU.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the Horizon program grow! And perhaps, one day, expand beyond the Montérégie to become an inspiring model for Québec’s entire health network so that more young people like Aimy can get the care they need.
