Supporting the project by Dr. Hai Nguyen and his team to obtain an orthopaedic surgical robot is my way of expressing my profound respect for the institution that has enabled me to practise the profession I love.
For over 25 years, Dr. Éric Bergeron has been an active member of the Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne community. He joined the Hospital in 1998 at a time when it was undergoing profound transformation to become a trauma referral centre. Since then, his commitment to the cause has only grown.
“More than anything, I’m motivated by progress. The way I see it, the foundations aren’t there to take over the institutions’ duties, but rather to promote their development, in particular by investing in new technologies.”
As a fervent advocate of medical progress, Dr. Bergeron firmly believes that Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne is and should always be at the avant-garde of innovation. That’s why he decided to support his orthopaedic colleagues surgical robot project. He’s convinced that robots will become the norm, just as ultrasounds have become the norm over time in traumatology, emergency, the operating room and, more recently, neuronavigation.
For Dr. Bergeron, it’s critically important that Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne set itself apart by its vision, excellence and dynamism. Innovation attracts patients, but also talent. And this talent is key to medical progress. It’s a virtuous circle that he wants to contribute to nourishing.
His financial contribution is not only a philanthropic gesture. It’s an investment in the Hospital’s future. He wants to create a domino effect and encourage others like him advocate for and support bold initiatives that push the limits of medicine.
