Some 15 people living with mental health problems participated in a greening activity organized in Parc de la Cité, in Longueuil, on June 6. They were joined by workers from the mental rehabilitation, addition and homelessness programs.
Together, they worked on a deeply meaningful environmental initiative as part of a recovery process. In all, 30 trees of different varieties were planted.
Parc de la Cité is a space enjoyed by mental health services users and workers. Once a week, the group meets there for a walk with the goal of breaking down isolation and getting exercise in a pleasant natural environment. The forest is a precious ally in reducing stress, finding a peaceful moment alone and promoting the well-being of our mental health rehabilitation program users.
The tree planting activity was organized by the organizations Initium, Soverdi and Tree Canada, with the generous contributions from the Foundation’s donors.
