I feel like I’m participating in something greater than myself and the satisfaction of knowing that this money is invested in local projects, initiated by the local team. Projects that improve patient care or the working conditions of health professionals.
Dr. Sophie Gosselin joined Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne’s Emergency medical team in February 2018, after more than 15 years at the MUHC, where the philanthropic spirit of the Anglophone community has deep roots. So, it was natural for her to get involved with her new Hospital’s Foundation, in a gesture of gratitude for the institution that was giving her a place to practise her profession. Since October 2021, she has been participating in the monthly giving program.
She chose this option for its efficiency in making giving a priority in her philanthropic activities.
According to Dr. Gosselin, philanthropic involvement is beneficial in many ways—including for the person who’s giving.
For Dr. Gosselin, the team at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne stands out for its collaboration with the various teams and its innovations in delivering care.
“The role of the Foundation and donors is not to replace public funding. It’s to innovate, be on the avant-garde and, sometimes, add a little to take care of the treating teams and patients.”
For her, every gesture of kindness and gratitude made towards others carries hope for better days for the community.
