generosity for the community

“When you give stocks, you can give . But it doesn’t cost more.”

Normand Carbonneau is not trying to impress anyone. A retiree living in Sutton, he spent his life working on concrete projects—literally and figuratively. In 1977, he worked on the construction of Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne’s mental health pavilion. He was on the team pouring concrete. Today, he’s chosen to donate stocks to his Hospital.

In 2025, Mr. Carbonneau attended a supper at the Serge-Lemieux Golf Classic. Touched by the surgical robot project, he chose to make his very first donation to the Foundation. Instead of donating money, he decided to donate stocks to support mental health and technological innovation at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne.

He heard about this type of donation at a conference. An expert explained the tax benefits to him and, especially, the idea of giving without it costing more.

“I prefer to give while I’m alive. This way, I can see where my donation is going.”

For Mr. Carbonneau, giving is a question of values. He speaks proudly of his daughter who was born at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne, his son who is still being followed there, and his father who passed away there in 2010. He also knows that he’s at risk of prostate cancer, which claimed his father’s life. And his pride extends beyond his family:

“We’re part of a community. Giving is important.”

Yes! I want to support the patients at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne.
