New revolutionary surgical robot

A revolutionary orthopaedic robot for knee surgery at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne

Longueuil, December 23, 2024 – Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne (HCLM) is now home to a cutting-edge orthopaedic surgical robot. The CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre and Fondation Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne are proud to announce that the HCLM has become the first Francophone public hospital in Québec to offer this innovation for knee surgery.

The introduction of this technology marks a major turning point in orthopaedics. The robot provides exceptional precision, enabling customized positioning of the prosthetic adapted to the morphology and unique needs of each patient. The result? Better recovery of natural movement—something that’s often difficult to achieve with conventional techniques.

There are several benefits. In addition to reducing the risks of a second procedure to replace the first prosthetic, this technology promotes faster recovery, reduces the length of hospital stays, and limits the need for physiotherapy and pain medication. All of these advantages contribute to a faster return to an active, healthy life. Moreover, the acquisition of this orthopaedic robot represents an important step forward in improving access to knee surgery.
