A new Snoezelen-inspired room at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne

October 7, 2024

Since mid-August, patients hospitalized at the geriatric unit of Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne can spend time in the brand new multi-sensory room that provides positive stimuli in a soothing atmosphere. The room is also equipped with technology, including an interactive console to stimulate the senses and encourage patients to move as a means to reduce the stress that comes with hospitalization. Activities are tailored to the abilities of people with cognitive disabilities. Kitchen facilities are available so that families can bring home-cooked meals to their hospitalized relatives.

“This brand new multi-sensory room on the geriatric unit was funded by our generous Liberty Lotto participants. Many thanks to them for their participation! By supporting our elderly patients, they help reduce aggression and apathy, stimulate their senses, ease their pain, improve their sleep and encourage sociability. Thanks to their caring gesture, our elderly patients will recover faster!” says Nathalie Boudreau, President and Executive Director of Fondation Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne.

Watch what Ysabelle Grégoire-Arbour, Head of the General Medicine Unit, and Mallaury India Nicolas, Nurse Clinician, have to say about this new multi-sensory room (in French).

serenity for geriatric patients thanks to the multisensory room

April 4, 2024

Here is a message from our geriatric patients: THANK YOU!

With your donation, our elderly patients will benefit from a new therapeutic environment. You will help them by stimulating their senses, alleviating their pain, improving their sleep and encouraging their sociability.

You offer comfort to our seniors in our geriatric short-stay unit.

The new Snoezelen room will be located in the short-term geriatric unit on the 7th South. This multi-sensory environment will be design to offer a relaxing moment for our elders. Your contribution allow them to make a true sensory journey thanks to soft lights, a soft musical atmosphere, cushions, diffusers of smells…

As soon as it is available, rest assured that we will share photos of this therapeutic room made possible thanks to YOU!

Once again, THANK YOU, with your generosity, our seniors will recover faster!
