Together, let's prevent more cancer diagnosis.
My name is Martine*. I want to share my experience with you. It’s my story. But it could be the story of many other women…
I’m an active person. I take care of my health. Regular appointments with my gynecologist. But a few months ago, I had extensive tests at Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne. And I received a devastating diagnosis: pre-cervical cancer.
Then I was told that the laser treatment I needed was not available on site. The medical staff was incredibly helpful. But transferring me to another hospital centre was a big challenge for them. A series of phone calls, first to find a doctor ready to take over my care and then, to ensure my follow-up. Finally, I was referred to another hospital. A long and painful process…
Imagine getting the news that you have precancerous lesions. An emotional ordeal in itself. Then being transferred somewhere else to be treated by a doctor you don’t know… More stress for nothing.
What if it were you, the woman you love, your daughter, your neighbour… Wouldn’t you prefer to have access to the best treatment option as fast as possible by the treating physician in the hospital of your community?
I hope my story will convince you how important it is to access specialized treatment locally. So that future patients won’t have to come up against the same challenges I did. Thank you for everything you can do for them. ♡
