Wondering what that has to do with you? Well, on board is <strong>Paratus Medical<\/strong>, a technology whose story began several years ago\u2026 right here at H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, <strong>Dr. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lemaire<\/strong>, an emergency physician, had an idea: to create a tool that would give healthcare professionals quick access to reliable medical knowledge when they need it most.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To develop it, he needed your help<\/strong>. Thanks to your donations, a first pilot project was launched at H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne: EZResus. Remember it?<\/p>\n<p>Then the idea took off. <strong>And what a journey it has been!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EZResus grew, won the grand prize in the Canadian Space Agency and Impact Canada\u2019s Deep Space Healthcare Challenge in 2024, and eventually gave rise to Paratus Medical.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And today, that technology has gone to space. \ud83d\ude80<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It will help explore how astronauts can perform medical assessments more independently when access to specialists is limited and communications with Earth are delayed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You helped an idea take its first steps. Our main goal is to help healthcare professionals save lives, and we cannot imagine an environment where our impact could be greater than in this context.\u00bb<br>\n<\/i><b>Dr. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lemaire<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-teams=\"true\"><i>\u00abEZResus 2.0 changes everything! We can help a nurse by providing guidance with the support of an interpreter, or assist a hunter in applying a tourniquet independently to a patient facing a life-threatening emergency.\u00bb<br>\n<\/i><b>Jason Coonishish, Prehospital Emergency Measures Coordinator, Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay<br>\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to you, EZResus 2.0, which supports communities in Quebec\u2019s Far North in collaboration with the Tulattavik and Inuulitsivik health centres, has made significant progress and improved access to care for Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"plus-orange\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fhclm fhclm-plus\"><\/i><\/span> The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay joined the application\u2019s users, further demonstrating the relevance of EZResus 2.0 for Indigenous communities in Quebec.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"plus-orange\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fhclm fhclm-plus\"><\/i><\/span> The EZResus 2.0 team worked to strengthen continuity in critical care, from remote regions all the way to Sainte-Justine Hospital, in collaboration with the Centre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 de sant\u00e9 et de services sociaux de la C\u00f4te-Nord and the medical transportation company A\u00e9rom\u00e9dical.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"plus-orange\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fhclm fhclm-plus\"><\/i><\/span> In collaboration with and drawing on the expertise of the Canadian Space Agency, a prototype was tested with a Cree community. The prototype integrates tools and protocols designed to support hunters, trappers and isolated families, with assistance from nurses via radio. This adaptation has helped make crucial information more accessible in geographically isolated settings.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"plus-orange\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fhclm fhclm-plus\"><\/i><\/span> The year ended with a major milestone: Indigenous Services Canada confirmed that it will deploy EZResus 2.0 to 1,000 nurses working across Northern Canada. The application will provide real-time support for complex emergencies in settings with limited resources \u2014 without requiring an Internet connection.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5da6c01 e-con-full cont-w pad-m rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mila<\/a><\/strong>, the largest artificial intelligence research institution in Qu\u00e9bec!<\/p>\n<p>This partnership will support the development and deployment of AI in its application EZResus.<\/p>\n<p>It will take the form of JARVIS, a resuscitation support tool able to instantaneously answer the logistical questions of people on the ground through a vocal interface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This will lead to even <i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fhclm fhclm-plus\"><\/i> efficiency in a context where every minute
