And he survived thanks to the dedication of the physicians and the entire care team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>They told me I was a miracle survivor. Without them, I would not be here today.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He still remembers the attentive specialists who came to see him every day despite their busy schedules, and the staff in the different departments where he stayed while in hospital:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Two physicians and an extraordinary team saved my life. Words cannot express my gratitude to the nurses and attendants who surrounded me.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Filled with gratitude, Hai Thach decided to become one of the Foundation\u2019s monthly donors in November 2024.<\/p>\n<p>One year after his assault, he went back to the Hospital, his arms filled with chocolates, to personally thank the teams that looked after him\u2014which he hopes to make a yearly ritual.<\/p>\n<p>For him, <a href=\"https:\/\/fhclm.ca\/en\/choose-monthly-giving\/\">monthly donations<\/a> are an acknowledgement that lives on.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6973a56 elementor-blockquote--skin-quotation elementor-blockquote--align-left quote-orange elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"6973a56\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tHuman beings forget\u2026 we tend to forget quickly, especially as time goes by. For me, the monthly donation is a constant reminder of my gratitude. For as long as I live and am able to, I\u2019ll continue to give, until the very last day of my life.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5a8e46 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5a8e46\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Born in Vietnam of Chinese parents, Hai Thach, now 72 years old, arrived in Canada as a refugee in 1981. His personal story fuels this deep conviction:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>For me, monthly donations are a way to give back for everything I have received in my life.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before the attack, his profession often brought him to the psychiatric ward where he worked as an interpreter. But it was not until he was admitted to the Hospital as a patient that he realized the full value of the care it provides:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Sometimes we take the Hospital for granted\u2026 until the day we really need it.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, he trusts the Foundation to invest his donations where the needs are most pressing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>To me, it\u2019s equivalent to the 7 blood bags I received in Emergency. Someone had to have donated the blood that I benefitted from.
