But there\u2019s still a lot of work to do to raise the quality of patient care. As well as the patient\u2019s care experience and quality of life.  <strong>That\u2019s where you come in!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cancers that affect the intimate parts of a woman\u2019s body, like cervical cancer, are the focus of my expertise.<\/strong> In fact, cervical cancer is the number one gynecological cancer in the world. And the human papilloma virus (HPV) is the primary cause. <\/p>\n<p><strong>I\u2019m writing to you today so that we can offer women better care. To help us purchase a laser to treat precancerous lesions in our patients. You\u2019ll be helping to reduce the risk of women developing cancer.  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women between 35 and 55 are the most affected. Certain groups are at higher risk of developing symptoms. Like people with a compromised immune system. Other factors, like smoking, also come into play.   <\/p>\n<p>When precancerous lesions appear, doctors can choose among three treatment options. They\u2019ll offer the patient the best option depending on their medical situation. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-68b01e9 elementor-icon-list--layout-traditional elementor-list-item-link-full_width elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-list\" data-id=\"68b01e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon-list.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"elementor-icon-list-items\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">The first option is the daily application of a cream over several months. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">A surgical excision of only the infected area is another option.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-arrow-right\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">The third and last option is to remove lesions with a laser. This involves just a few 10-minute sessions in day surgery, under local anesthesia. <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-95e29e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"95e29e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>At the moment, H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne only offers the first two options. But in some cases, laser treatment is preferable. We\u2019re not equipped for this. So we have to direct some of our patients to other institutions for treatment. As you can imagine, this is far from ideal. It\u2019s <strong>stressful and impractical<\/strong>. The account by one of my patients, <a href=\"https:\/\/fhclm.ca\/en\/your-foundation\/in-the-headlines\/what-if-it-were-you-the-woman-you-love\/\"><strong>Martine*<\/strong><\/a> , attests to this.    <\/p>\n<p>I used the laser for many years at my previous hospital.
