The EZResus app, created by an emergency physician at H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne, has won the Canadian Space Agency\u2019s Deep Space Healthcare Challenge. The goal of the competition, judged by a panel of experts, was to develop new healthcare technologies for remote communities and crews on space missions. <\/p>\n

EZResus (formerly EZDrips) was developed by Dr. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lemaire to save more lives in emergency departments. When Dr. Lemaire realized that a newborn baby\u2019s life depended on time-consuming calculations still done by hand on a scrap of paper, he quickly assembled a team of volunteer doctors and experts at H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne and other university teaching hospitals. <\/p>\n

The app they designed makes it easier to administer medication to all patients in emergency situations. EZResus tells doctors what equipment, dose, concentration and flow rate to use, and tailors the information to the patient\u2019s specific characteristics. <\/p>\n

Developed and used at H\u00f4pital Charles-Le Moyne for several years now, this revolutionary, multi-award-winning app is now being used by more than 5,000 doctors in 29 countries around the world. This award is proof that EZResus could even support medical emergencies in space! <\/p>\n
